Job Description

  • Designation – Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET)

    GET plays a key role in the software development team on all stages of the software development lifecycle, including design/test design, implementation, test automation, and testing activities for Rockwell Automation’s industry-leading commercial software known for its innovation and usability, in particular high performance real-time scalable features based on Rockwell’s Manufacturing Execution System (MES) that are often integrated with machine automation and control systems as well as ERP software.

  • Technology Stack: Java EE, JBoss, SQL Server / Oracle, Vaadin, Continuous Delivery, SAFe

  • Salary: 6.34 LPA +1.75 lakhs Joining Bonus

Eligibility Criteria

  • Branches Eligible: COMPS, INFT, ETRX, EXTC, INSTRU

  • CGPA- >=7 (cumulative)

  • No backlogs

  • 65% and above in engineering

  • Desired Skills:

    -Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented designs in Java.

    -Understanding of various design patterns for enterprise applications

    -Understanding of Object Oriented analysis and design using common design patterns.

    -Understanding of database design/programming in SQL Server and Oracle.

    -Understanding of manufacturing/industry domain

    -Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, that enable collaboration with global teams

Round 1-Aptitude Test

  • Date- 24 Nov 2023, 10:00 AM till 24 Nov 2023, 01:00 PM

  • Time -1 hours 15 mins

  • Platform-METTL

Aptitude questions related to average, profit and loss, speed and distance, percentage, etc., and data interpretation, verbal ability, and logical reasoning questions were also asked. No coding questions were asked.

On 27 th Nov results were out and 126 students were shortlisted for the next round. The pre-placement talk was conducted online for all shortlisted students on 1st Dec.

All the next rounds were conducted offline in college on 11 Dec 2023.

Round 2-Group Discussion

Time-10:30 am

My group was given a choice of 3 topics and we had to decide which topic we wanted. We were given 5 minutes to prepare and the GD lasted 15-20 minutes. There were 2 interviewers per panel and make sure you speak confidently at least 3-4 times to get shortlisted for the next round.

By 12:15 pm results were announced and 41 students were qualified for technical interview.

Round 3-Technical Interview

Time: 12:30 pm

The interview was mainly based on Projects, OOPS, DBMS, SQL, Basic JAVA concepts, Data structures, and Programming questions. There were 2 interviewers for each panel and the interview lasted for about 40-45 minutes.

Questions asked to me -

  • The interviewer's introduction followed by mine.

  • Explanation of each project mentioned on the resume in detail, along with my contribution to each.

  • Difficulties faced in the project and how I overcame them.

  • Process of developing a project and resources you use when you come across an error.

  • How is the database connected to the websites of each project?

  • How data is retrieved and stored in each project, database structure, and schema

  • Rate yourself in JAVA, followed by questions on the basics of the JAVA collection framework.

  • Explain 4 pillars of JAVA

  • Questions based on OOPS concepts in detail with example

  • Questions on each skill mentioned on the resume

  • Rate yourself in coding and explain the approach of reversing a string and an integer

  • Process and Resources used for developing new tech skills

  • Questions based on council experience, how did you organize events, what did you do to bring more participation

Tech and HR interviews were conducted simultaneously so results were announced within 10-15 mins.19 students were shortlisted for the HR interview.

Round 4-HR Interview

The HR interview was conducted by the Senior HR Generalist and the interview lasted for about 15-20 mins. This interview was just like a simple conversation with HR.

Questions asked to me -

  • Asked me for feedback about the entire process till now.

  • What did I like the most about the process and any suggestions or improvements?

  • Introduction about myself and my family background

  • What do you know about the company?

  • Tell me something about the company that was not mentioned in the PPT

  • Why do you like this role?

  • One moment in your engineering career where you came up with an innovative solution.

  • What is something that you want to change about yourself?Why?How will you do that?

  • If your coworker or group member doesn’t cooperate what will you do?

  • If you are a team lead and you are given a task/project then how will you proceed?

  • Invited me to ask questions about the job.

By 7:30 pm all interviews were done and results were announced in the college itself.

4 students were placed in Rockwell Automation. (+ 4 students were kept on the waiting list if any student declines the offer during the onboarding process then the offer will be given to them )
